Typhoon Morakot has triggered the worst flooding in Taiwan in 50 years. The south of the country has been badly affected and many villages have been washed away.

Taiwan's Disaster Relief Centre said Morakot has killed 12 people whilst another 52 are missing.

The government set up a task force to coordinate relief work in the worst-hit counties and the Taiwanese President Ma Ying-jeou has toured the flood stricken areas.
