Civilian anguish in Sri Lanka war

The Sri Lankan government and Tamil Tiger rebels are under international pressure to end hostilities, amid growing concerns for civilians caught up in the conflict.

Satellite images have emerged which appear to show recent heavy shelling in the government-designated "safe zone", where the UN estimates that about 50,000 people are trapped.
