Japan minister denies being drunk

The Japanese Finance Minister Shoichi Nakagawa has strongly denied that he was drunk at a news conference in Rome.

The minister, a close ally of Japan's premier Taro Aso, told reporters he had taken medicine on his flight to Rome for a meeting of the Group of Seven finance leaders.

He said the medication may have affected him badly.
