Indonesia has launched a new tsunami early warning system, designed to give people in coastal areas enough time to escape tsunamis before they reach land.
It was launched in Jakarta by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono who was joined by Germany's parliamentary secretary, Thomas Rachel, who said the system would be able to "issue the quickest possible warnings with a high degree of reliability".
The new warning system was made with German assistance.
