In pictures: China's giant dragon

A spectacular giant dragon has been paraded along the Great Wall of China to help celebrate Saturday's Lantern Festival in the new year of the dragon.

The dragon snakes around the Great Wall for 10,000ft.

Film star Jackie Chan led the procession of youngsters from the Communist Party's Youth League.

It took more than 3,000 people to carry the giant serpent. The Youth League organises such events as part of its mission to nurture party loyalty and good moral standards among teenagers.

Mr Chan told the crowds that China would have a "dragon-flying" year. He also wished good health to all around the world.

Mr Chan also helped launch a fundraising drive to help educate children about conservation and about how economic growth has damaged China's natural environment.
