| Thursday, 19 February, 1998, 08:13 GMT Singapore banks to see their earnings slump Singapore says its banks will see their earnings for 1997 drop by nearly a third as a result of the financial crisis in Asia. But the deputy prime minister, Lee Hsien Loon, who's also chairman of the Monetary Authority of Singapore told parliament that despite the significant reduction in their earnings, the country's six banks were, essentially, in good shape.
