48 new world heritage sites
Agreement to include almost fifty new sites on the World Heritage List have been reached at a meeting of the World Heritage Committee in Marrakech in Morocco.
A spokeswoman for the United Nations' education and science body, UNESCO, says the sites include the ancient Vietnamese port town of Hoi An, and My Son, the historic capital of the Cham peoples in Vietnam.
A total of forty-eight sites have been listed as being of world heritage value and to be preserved.
They also include the Loretentz National Park in Indonesia, Mt Wuyi and the Dazu rock carvings in China and the Darjeeling railway in India.
