| Tuesday, 30 November, 1999, 11:57 GMT 1000 HIV cases in Kazakhstan The authorities in Kazakhstan say about one-thousand people are now registered as HIV-positive. But announcing the figures, the director of the Anti-AIDS centre in Almaty Turar Chaklikov said the real figure was ten or twenty times higher.
