1000 HIV cases in Kazakhstan



The authorities in Kazakhstan say about one-thousand people are now registered as HIV-positive.

But announcing the figures, the director of the Anti-AIDS centre in Almaty Turar Chaklikov said the real figure was ten or twenty times higher.

Most of those infected in Kazakhstan are between the ages of fifteen and twenty-nine, and eighty per cent of those are drug addicts.
