Kim (r) held a landmark summit in North Korea in 2000 |
Former South Korean President Kim Dae-jung is to visit North Korea next month, officials say. Mr Kim's trip to the North in 2000 marked the first-ever presidential summit between the sides.
It helped Mr Kim to win the Nobel Peace Prize, but forced him to apologise when it emerged that large amounts of cash was sent to the North ahead of talks.
Mr Kim's second trip to the state comes amid an international stand-off over its nuclear programme.
Six-nation talks on the issue began in 2003 but have been stalled since last year.
It is not clear what Mr Kim will discuss with the North Koreans.
