Japan voters' panel: Hiroaki Toya
I'm really happy for Koizumi as he has got exactly what he wanted.

But his magic was so successful that it's a little scary.

MEET THE PANEL
Hiroaki Toya
Name: Hiroaki Toya
Age: 35
Lives: Tokyo
Works: Investment portfolio manager
Voted: Liberal Democratic Party

This huge mandate is enough to shut up any special interest groups.

But I have to admit that I am surprised. I did not expect him to win by this much.

I think many people wanted to give him an outright majority, but perhaps not this much of one.

I hope Koizumi will have the energy to take the reforms beyond the postal.

There are many things to do including addressing the pension system, our education system, increasing the birth rate.

He has got the trust of the people and I hope he keeps it.

I have to admit that I am a little concerned about the possibility that the LDP leadership will become complacent. The party has a history of inertia once it gets past obstacles.

But after such a historic victory, the country is watching.
