The Liberal Democratic Party has won by far too much

This is a victory in the cities. Koizumi's candidates easily took places such as Tokyo.

Koizumi has an aggressive style and the image of a strong leader and this is what attracted people. Many Japanese prime ministers have seemed timid in the past.

But I think people in the countryside are worried that the Prime Minister may make light of the issues that affect them.

I recently met an old man living in an isolated part of Nagasaki. He told me that he sometimes visits a post office to draw out a deposit for living.

If a post office disappears from his neighbourhood, he will have to go to the centre of town by taxi to withdraw money.

So he is worried about the privatization of post offices. He has been a supporter for Liberal Democratic Party for many years.

Many people think that postal reform is necessary and so they backed Koizumi in big numbers. I think postal reform is necessary too but there are other more important issues, such as the amendment of our constitution.

Koizumi has to listen carefully to the nation.

He says he will resign next autumn. I think a change of leader will change the political atmosphere of this country.

Maybe then we'll start to address the big issues that affect people's lives.
