I've voted for the LDP in the past, but this time I'm going to be voting for the opposition. It's saying everything I want to hear. | MEET THE PANEL Name: Tameyuki Takata Age: 61 Lives: Maniwa-shi Works: Surgeon Voting intention: Democratic Party of Japan

I don't like Koizumi's style. He is too aggressive and authoritarian. The DPJ shows more respect to our Asian neighbours and this is an issue I care about. Koizumi angers China and Korea by visiting the Yasukuni shrine, which houses war criminals.
I'm conscious that from the fifth century onwards, our culture, traditions and religion have been influenced by China.
We must respect them more.
He also follows the Bush administration far too obediently. US-Japan relations are important but good relations with our immediate neighbours are critical for Japan's future.
Yet Koizumi says that this is a postal reform election.
I agree that the system needs reform. Japan Post has 350 trillion yen in postal savings and life insurance policies.
It's a huge amount of money and it is being wasted on unnecessary public projects. If it is privatised it will be used more effectively.
But Koizumi has only expressed the outline and not the details of the plan. The DPJ are also hoping to reform the system.
Soon I will be a beneficiary of a pension. As it stands, the pension system will go bankrupt because Japan is an ageing country. We need a government that takes such problems seriously.
