Leaders across the globe have congratulated Barack Obama on his victory in the US presidential election.

Among those reacting to his win were UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, Afghan President Hamid Karzai, Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, Vatican spokesman Father Federico Lombardi and President George Bush.
