The US House of Representatives has passed President Obama's healthcare reforms with 219 votes in favour - only seven more than voted against the bill.
Republicans voted unanimously to reject the plans, which they claim would increase the cost of health insurance for the majority of Americans and push the country deeper into debt.
Democrats were not entirely behind the legislation, with 34 voting against it.
