US to send 4,000 extra troops to Haiti

The US is sending another 4,000 sailors and marines to Haiti for the earthquake relief effort, diverting them from deployments in the Gulf and Africa.

Increasingly, it seems that the relief effort is being run by US forces with more than a dozen warships off the Haitian coast.
