US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has met ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya in Washington.
She announced that Costa Rican President Oscar Arias will lead mediation to try to resolve the political crisis in Honduras.
She said that further talks were needed in the face of "implacable" opposition to Zelaya in Honduras.
