Large numbers of people have turned out in Lebanon to vote in a tight general election.
The result is expected to be close, analysts say, with the votes split between the Western-backed governing bloc and the Hezbollah-led opposition that enjoys the support of Syria and Iran.
The Christian vote is also split - almost equally between the two main blocs.
Hezbollah supporters were out in force, trying to mobilise the vote.
After casting his ballot, Prime Minister Fouad Siniora said the enthusiasm of the voters was "undoubtedly unprecedented".
Saad Hariri, leader of the governing coalition, echoed the message urging every Lebanese man and woman to vote.
Former US President Jimmy Carter heads a team of international monitors. He called on all parties to respect the result.
More than 50,000 troops have been deployed across the country to ensure security on polling day.
