Former US vice-president Dick Cheney has called for the release of US government papers which, he says, show the effectiveness of the CIA's interrogation of terrorism suspects.
Memos revealing the extent to which the CIA used waterboarding, a technique which simulates drowning, have already been made public on the orders of President Obama.
