US President Barack Obama has released secret memos from the Bush administration outlining the use of CIA interrogation techniques.
Critics of the programme say the methods used amounted to torture.
Mr Obama said the officials who used tactics such as ''waterboarding'' or simulated drowning would not face criminal charges, because White House lawyers had approved the methods.
