US President Barack Obama has said the US is a "full partner" with Mexico in its fight against the drug cartels.
Speaking in Mexico City, Mr Obama said the US must stem the flow of guns across the border that is fuelling the bloodshed.
He also spoke of his ''admiration'' for his Mexican counterpart, Felipe Calderon.
