Self-defence Caracas style

Caracas is now Latin America's most violent major city, having overtaken the likes of Medellin, Rio de Janeiro and Mexico City in recent years.

Official figures show the number of murders in the Venezuelan capital have doubled over the past decade, reaching a total of 130 murders per 100,000 population in 2008.

The rise in violence has led to an increase in demand for self-defence classes among the city's population.

Will Grant visited Combat Karive, a martial arts school specialising in fighting techniques used by Amazon tribes.
