So far we haven't been too hurt by the downturn in the economy, and we don't expect to be directly targeted for increased taxes.

I think we can afford more expensive utilities up to a point, so hopefully an Obama presidency won't be a personal financial disaster for us. I can certainly understand if people of colour are excited to have Obama break their last glass ceiling.

Obama made promises - and led people to have expectations - which he will never come close to fulfilling. He displayed an amazing talent for shrugging off scandals which would have sunk most politicians.

Well, we'll see what Obama's learning curve looks like.

Hopefully, he'll graduate from this popularity contest and grow into a statesman. Otherwise, he's going to be one of the most ineffectual presidents in history. I hope he turns out to be a great president and if the world sleeps a little better, that's good news too."
