US White House rivals John McCain and Barack Obama have taken part in their first head-to-head TV debate.

Republican Stacy Hilliard, originally from Texas, and Jonelle Lewis Chamberlain, a Democrat from Philadelphia, were asked how they viewed their candidate's performance.
