Barack Obama is having to defend himself against accusations of sexism after he compared John McCain's promises of change to putting "lipstick on a pig".
The comments were said by Republicans to be a reference to Sarah Palin's joke that hockey moms were like pitbulls with lipstick.
Barack Obama has claimed that he was simply using a well-known saying to imply that there would be no real change from Republicans under John McCain.
