John McCain has accepted the Republican Party's nomination for the presidential election.

He asserted our belief in the importance of personal responsibility.

He will lead us against those in Washington who now block our energy independence.

McCain must be serious about reform because he chose another corruption reformer as his running mate.

Fred Thompson said that Sarah Palin's selection has panicked the other side. She's a courageous reformer who takes on the establishment. Does this sound like anybody else? My answer is yes: Ronald Reagan.

As for the revelations over her daughter - I think Sarah Palin and her family are sympathetic figures under attack for a common life situation. They and the Republicans have handled the situation well.

And her daughter's decision to keep the child is evidence of her pro-life upbringing.

Bush was right to send us a simple message that McCain is ready to serve on day one. He stressed national security and McCain's military career that is known to many but not all.

Republican excitement for the McCain-Palin ticket is similar to that during the Ronald Reagan era.

Together McCain and Palin are going to take on the Washington establishment - who include Obama and Biden."
