Brazil jailbreak: 100 escape

A group of heavily armed men stormed a police station jail in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo, setting more than one hundred prisoners free.

The attack happened at daybreak on Monday.

Police have launched a big search operation and reports say several inmates have so far been recaptured.

Correspondents say prison escapes are common in Brazil, especially around the Christmas and New Year holidays when prisoners long to be with their families.
