US anti-war protester Cindy Sheehan has been fined for demonstrating without a permit outside the White House. Ms Sheehan was among dozens of protesters arrested on 26 September, after failing to move on from the pavement in Washington.
All 26 defendants were ordered to pay $50 to cover fines and court costs.
Ms Sheehan says she will appeal. She first attracted worldwide attention when she held a vigil outside President George W Bush's ranch in Texas.
The pavement outside the White House is a restricted area, where people by law must keep moving.
Ms Sheehan insisted she was not demonstrating, but only exercising her constitutional right to petition her government.
She says she plans to return to Crawford, Texas, to continue to press her request for a meeting with President Bush.
The death of Ms Sheehan's soldier son in Iraq in 2004 has made her a figurehead for the anti-war movement in the US.
