Relatives blame poor safety standards

A policeman, a 10-year-old girl and a woman are the latest casualties, which bring the total number of dead to 186.

Thousands have marched in the last few days protesting against the city government in Buenos Aires, which they blame for poor safety standards.

The fire at Cromagnon Nightclub was one of the worst disasters in Argentine history. About 700 people were injured.

Two officials have already stepped down after accepting responsibility for inadequate safety measures.

But the Buenos Aires Mayor, Anibal Ibarra, is refusing to resign.

On Tuesday, President Nestor Kirchner met relatives of the victims.

Some people remain in a critical condition in hospital.

The fire started when someone at the nightclub launched a flare during a concert, but the disaster was compounded by the conditions inside.

Mr Ibarra says the fire brigade is responsible for building safety in Buenos Aires, and it approved the nightclub in June.

He has also blamed the owner of the club, who has been arrested for alleged negligence.
