Mike Tyson may have to appear in court, police say |
Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage after he allegedly jumped on to the bonnet of a car. The car driver said the incident happened outside a nightclub in Scottsdale, Arizona, on 27 November.
Police said Tyson attended the police station with his lawyers on Tuesday and was later released.
The 38-year-old boxer, who moved to Scottsdale earlier this year, has a history of violent incidents.
Car driver Asaf Alikadic, 22, was quoted by the Arizona Republic newspaper as saying Tyson leapt on to the front of his car as he stopped to allow people to cross the street.
"I just want my car fixed. That's it," he was quoted as saying.

Scottsdale police detective Sam Bailey said the boxer was likely to make an initial court appearance within 10 days, the Associated Press news agency reported. Earlier this year, Tyson pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct following a fight with two men in a New York hotel lobby in June 2003, and was ordered to carry out community service.
He has served a three-and-a-half year prison sentence for rape, and last year filed for bankruptcy.
The boxer is planning a comeback in March, his first since being knocked out by England's Danny Williams in July.
