| Saturday, 4 January, 2003, 01:15 GMT In pictures: Venezuela strike chaos There have been further clashes in the Venezuelan capital Caracas between supporters and opponents of President Hugo Chavez, as the country's general strike enters its second month. ![]() Scores were injured when Chavez supporters clashed with opposition demonstrators ![]() Police used rubber bullets and tear gas to keep the two sides apart ![]() At least three people were wounded after unidentified gunmen opened fire ![]() Pro-Chavez protesters tried to prevent their opponents marching to the city's main barracks ![]() The crippling strike began early in December when protesters demanded Mr Chavez' resignation ![]() Many of the country's oil workers, including tanker crews, joined the stoppage ![]() The oil industry - the main source of government revenue - has been virtually paralysed ![]() The government drafted in soldiers to keep limited fuel supplies running |
