| Monday, 25 February, 2002, 22:09 GMT Former Paraguayan president due in court Former Paraguayan President Raul Cubas Grau is due to appear in court on Monday to be questioned on the killing of seven young protesters, which led to his resignation three years ago. Mr Cubas was put under arrest in a military base in the capital, Asuncion, on Friday, after returning from political exile in neighbouring Brazil. He was charged with corruption and the killing of seven protesters who were demonstrating against the release from jail of a close ally Lino Oviedo, accused of involvement in the assassination of Paraguay's former Vice President Luis Maria Argana. Correspondents say the main issue is whether Mr Cubas will implicate Mr Oviedo, then a powerful figure in Paraguayan government, in the violence that left at least 200 people injured. Mr Oviedo is in political exile in Brazil. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service | Top Americas stories now: Links to more Americas stories are at the foot of the page. | |||
