Malaria remains major killer in Ghana

The health authorities in Ghana say malaria still causes up to twenty per cent of deaths among children under five and pregnant women.

They also say it accounts for more than forty per cent of all hospital admissions in Ghana.

The figures were given by the Health Minister, Kwame Danso-Buafo, ahead of a meeting of African leaders in Nigeria next week to consider ways of countering the spread of malaria throughout the continent.
