| Monday, 28 February, 2000, 11:18 GMT In pictures: Mozambique under water ![]() Relative safety: Above the water but desperate to be rescued from her tree trunk perch. ![]() The village of Chinhanine is just one of many washed away by the floods. ![]() Survivors cling to any piece of land still above the water looking out for the rescue helicopters. ![]() Some aid is getting to the survivors - but more transport is needed for there to be a significant improvement to the supply routes. ![]() Only five helicopters, all South African, are operating in the Mozambique flood area where an estimated 200,000 have been made homeless. ![]() Almost safe: She has lost all her possessions but she is alive. ![]() Others wade along what is normally a road to try to find a refuge. ![]() In camps for the displaced people malaria is the new worry. |
