President Daniel arap Moi of Kenya has denounced homosexuality, describing it as a scourge that goes against Christian teachings and African traditions.
Speaking in Nairobi, Mr Moi said Kenyans should guard against such dangerous practices, as he put it.
Earlier this week, President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda ordered the arrest of homosexuals for what he described as abominable acts.
President Robert Mugabe has also been outspoken in his condemnation of homosexuality.
The practice is illegal or taboo in many African countries.
