1XTRA NEWS: THE REAL TALK OF THE STREETS
Can ads cut teen pregnancy rates?
Pregnant teenager
Abortion advice looks set to be advertised on TV and radio. Do you think this is a good idea?
Restrictions on condom adverts could also be relaxed, as part of plans aimed at reducing high UK rates of teenage pregnancy and sexual infections.

The move could mean that condom adverts could be shown before the 2100 watershed.

The idea is part of a review of advertising codes, which will now be put to the public for their views. Do you agree with this?
Will these changes help to cut teenage pregnancies? Or do you think they will have very little impact? Do you agree with showing condom ads before the watershed? Or do you think it's a bad idea?

Whilst I have no problem with these ads being shown should there also not be more emphasis on preventative measures so that young girls don't have to go through this experience in the first place? I.e. Better sex education?

If they are going to show abortion ads on TV they should what happens to the baby that is forced out of their mother with the equivalent of a vaccuum cleaner. Abortion is murder of the worst kind, commtted against the most helpless people in society, tiny babies. Anyone who has ever heard their baby's heartbeat during a trip to the midwife can testify to the fact that the little being inside them/their partner is a living, breathing person who has a right to life. There is ALWAYS an alternative to abortion.

in this day and age its a reality that kids under the legal age are getting pregnant, i had an abortion and it was the hardest thing i have had to do and live with it, im 25 and it hit me hard so i hate to imagine a 14 year old having to do with it escpecially as it still abit of a taboo subject, teens should know more about abortions, all the details (theyre not that nice) as they may not see abortion as an easy thing to do (i see 2 girls at the clinic laughing and joking round like what they was gonna do was nothing) they might take protection more seriously as a way of not getting pregnant if they realised the impact of having an abortion can have, showing adverts b4 the watershed is necessary as the ones who need to have there awareness raised will b in bed not seeing the adverts, it would b nice to retain our childrens innocence for as long as we can (i have an 8yr old girl) but it is not possible in the world we live in so we need to give them as much knowledge as we can, as being a teen is a hard complicated time of peoples lives, so the more info they have the better the choices they can make.

well i think it is not nice that lil girls are haveing babys at this age

hey im 21 wen i was 14 i had to get rid of a baby i think its agd idea bcuz thas a really young age an u cant luk after ur self neva mind a child it gave me a 2nd chance at child hood and i think as ur walkin around now there are 2 MANY young mums as young as 15 by me so im 100 percent for the abortion on tv commercials.

I think they should show Abortion & Condom ads. They used to in the early 90s & there was even an AIDS ad in the 80s. TV seems to scared to show these things now so all we get are internet Bingo adverts. Not exactly helpful to the nation!!!!
