DJ Skitz

Where were you born?
In a windmill, Cambridgeshire

Your favourite hobby and/or present as a kid
Writing my name in graffiti. It was also great to see my tag.

How you got into being a DJ/presenter
I was a DJ (or thought I was) after I watched Wild Style and bought myself two £20 decks and a mixer with no fader. I got the job at 1Xtra when I came in as a guest for a friend of mine who was doing a pilot. I was shooting the breeze about UK hip hop and was asked to try out for a slot on one of the hip hop shows.

Your biggest influence(s)
My upbringing. Because as a little hippy kid running naked at festivals it opened my eyes, made me independent and showed me the importance of following my dreams and passions.

Achievements
1. Many remixes including Pharaohe Monche, Roni Size, Roots Manuva.
2. DJing all over the world.
3. Getting hip hop LP of the year in the UK Hip Hop Awards.
4. Bringing up a beautiful son.
5. Being able to put together Ikea furniture.
6. Speaking 12 languages. Being a fully trained circus acrobat [NB, the last sentence is a complete lie!]

Tune that you love or inspired you
Tenor Saw - Fever. Amazing tune that I never tire of. Great music and melody. It also gave us the title of our radio show - Original Fever.

KRS One - Criminal Minded. Truly Inspirational. I wouldn't be where I am today without this album.

Favourite lyric

OC - Times Up
Reality lyrics. Conscious and hard-hitting but with flow and grace.

Your dream gig or collaboration
Sizzla. My favourite artist of all time who can seamlessly flow on any riddim.

Interests / hobbies outside music
Reading, travelling, meeting good people.

Three rules you live your life by
1. Don't judge a book by its cover.
2. Take risks.
3. Follow your heart.
4. And don't eat McDonalds.

If you ran the country what would you change/initiate?
Education, health service, travel and homelessness. These would all be sorted out because they are all basic human needs. Food, clothing, shelter. The rich would be taxed more to compensate. Less would be spent on defence also to pay for the changes.

If God was a DJ, who'd it be?
DJ Milo. (Wild Bunch.)

Which Guinness World Record would you like to break?
To hold the world record for DJing in front of the largest crowd ever.

Rodney P's profile coming soon. Hold tight!
