"Violator is the best thing that’s happened to me." Busta Rhymes
Mona Scott is president of Violator Management - the biggest and baddest management group in hip hop. Violator has sold an average of 10 million records a year for the last 6 years.
Mona and partner 'Baby' Chris Lighty have been running tings in hip hop for the last ten years. Violator's artist roster reads like a who's who of hip hop – Missy Elliott, Busta Rhymes, 50 Cent, Mobb Deep, The Clipse, Q-Tip and NORE.
Mona is one of the only black female execs in the game. A 37 year old mother of two, her husband stays at home when she’s out running this rap s**t.
Mona met Chris Lighty in the early 90s while he was working for Russell Simmons' Rush Management. But getting bored, Chris jumped ship and Violator was born.
Busta says that Violator is the best thing that’s happened to him. Mona & Chris have hooked him up with everything from soft drink ads to roles in major movies like Shaft and NARC, plus a big sponsorship deal with Courvoisier.
Mona’s strongest relationship is with Missy Elliott. She’s brokered groundbreaking deals for her – most notably Missy's long time realtionship with Adidas and her ‘Respect Me’ range of trainers & clothes.
She appeared as a judge on ‘Missy’s Road to Stardom’ reality show and exec produced and financed the show through her TV production company Monami. Monami is moving into film production with six projects on the table, two featuring Missy!
