Question and Answer
I'm a female song-writer/producer. How do I break into the industry? It is so male dominated that no one will give me a break unless I work as a team with them.
Back to FAQs list

I think most industries are male dominated aren't they? You should see being a female at the writing/production end of the biz as an advantage because of its uniqueness and to put it bluntly, novelty aspect.

I know there arent many ladies on the production end of things, but I think you'll find there are quite a few writers, MIchelle Escoffrey and Cathy Dennis to name just a couple.

Don't feel pressured to join a team ( male or female) of writer/ producers, if its not your thing, but, you should seek to work with other people who can complement what you do.

For example if you write lyrics and melodies, then it might be an idea for you to work with a keyboard player and or a beats programmer. If a team complements your skill then great, definitely consider it. If you're self sufficient then maybe what you need is more along the lines of management to help get your services around the industry.
