Question and Answer
I'm propa big into garage. What is the best software for making a garage tune?
Back to FAQs list

There isn't really a 'best' software for making UK garage, as creatively the music is so fast moving in terms of the style and the sound changing from time to time. For example, since the mid 90s we've gone from speed garage and 4x4 through 2 step, then that soca beat through to 8 bar, then grimey, sublow, new school 4x4, dubstep, tribal step and all other kind of steps and mutations!

Its all about innovation with ukg and the more you experiment the quicker you'll find out what works for you. If I had to recommend, I'd say Logic (any version from 4.7 upwards) is tight for beats. Big tunes have been made on Reason 2, Fruit Loops (pc only) or even the humble PlayStation using Musicmaker 2000 .

Try a ting and play about with some different packages. Wiley's bass sound I think is off the Proteus 2000 sound module and Music Mobs ' Pulse x bass sound is totally original, made by themselves.
