The veteran of the pack, Robert Wyatt, 59, made his name with 1960s pioneers The Soft Machine before going solo at the start of the 1970s.

Cuckooland is his first album for six years and contains wide-ranging avant garde jazz that touches on the thoughtful, haunting and romantic.
