More than 20,000 voted for their favourite from seven names in the Essex zoo's poll on the internet to name the new arrival. Topping the poll was the name Kito, which means precious. Before the poll closed, zoo bosses told BBC Radio Suffolk the elephant certainly would not be named Dave Watts, after a man who nominated his own name and then voted for it 3,000 times in one afternoon. The baby bull, born to Tanya on 6 December, is already drinking up to eight pints of milk every day. He weighs in at around 110 kilogrammes or 35 stone. This time next year another baby should have arrived. Tanya's sister, Zola, is also pregnant. The two have lived at the zoo since they were rescued from Zimbabwe. | See also: 06 Dec 02 | England 03 Dec 02 | England 23 Oct 02 | Science/Nature 18 Sep 02 | England Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
