| | Saturday, 16 November, 2002, 10:43 GMT In pictures: Bloodshed in Hebron Twelve Israelis were killed and more than a dozen others wounded by Palestinian militants in the West Bank city of Hebron in one of the worst attacks since the Palestinian uprising began.
 Settlers and soldiers were raked with gunfire and targeted with hand grenades  They were fired on from all directions in a well-planned ambush  Israeli troops returned fire, killing two Palestinian gunmen  After an intense gun battle, Israeli troops secured the area...  ... and surrounded houses where suspects were thought to be hiding  It was the deadliest attack on Jews in Hebron for many years  As news of the attack spread, supporters of Islamic Jihad celebrated  It focused attention once again on the divided city, a constant flashpoint for violence between Jews and Arabs | |
