School centre build on schedule
Work to develop a new sixth form centre at Guernsey's Grammar School is running "like clockwork", the island's Education Department has said.

So far the 5.5m project is on budget and set to finish a month early.

That is in contrast to other recent States projects which have resulted in overspends, including St Sampson's marina and Beau Sejour's refurbishment.

Education Minister Martin Ozanne says the centre was key to the development of the island's school system.

The facility will be used by the school's pupils to study and socialise.

The authorities hope it will ease the pressure on space caused by growing student numbers in recent years.
