Race proves major success
Competitors in the Race for Life
More than 1,400 women took part in the Guernsey event
Hundreds of Guernsey women took to the track to raise thousands of pounds for charity.

Guernsey's ladies turned out in force at Footes Lane Stadium to take part in one of many Race for Life events taking place around the British Isles.

More than 1,400 women ran or walked the five-kilometre route, aiming to raise more than 60,000 for Cancer Research.

Specsavers has been involved with the race for many years, and the company's founder, Mary Perkins, said the race had attracted the biggest number of competitors so far.

She said the race was an excellent opportunity to raise money for a good cause.

"It gets all the women on the island together, raising money for their various charities," she said.
