The Austrian parliament has approved legislation allowing the return to rightful owners of works of arts in national museums that were originally stolen by the Nazis during the Second World War.
The law also covers works of art that belonged to Jewish families who were forced to donate them to state museums after the end of the war.
Earlier this year, the authorities in the United States ordered a museum not to return paintings on loan from Austria after they were claimed by descendants of Jewish Holocaust victims.
