Wild boar causes Japan rail crash

Nearly 80 people have been injured in Japan when the train they were travelling on crashed into another train, which had stalled after it had hit a wild boar on the tracks.

Police in Munakata City on the southern island of Kyushu said 77 people were taken to hospital, 18 of which had been kept in overnight.

An estimated 200 people were travelling on both trains.

A spokesman for the train operating company said the conductor of the express train missed a red light that came on after the first train had been brought to a halt.
