| Saturday, 10 January, 1998, 00:11 GMT Demonstrators take to streets of Gabon Reports from Gabon say more than a thousand people have been involved in violent demonstrations over the past few days in southern Gabon. Africa Number One radio reports that the demonstrators, mainly young people, set up roadblocks, seized vehicles and set fire to public buildings in Mimongo in Ngounie Province. The reports say the demonstrators are demanding improvements in the local infrastructure, particularly in the road and electricity networks.
