The Senegalese authorities say ten villagers have been killed in an attack by separatists in the southern region of Casamance on Monday.
The Senegalese army said nineteen rebels were killed in ensuing clashes with security forces.
There's been no independent confirmation of the rebel casualties.
The attack -- on the village of Jisankoh -- is the fourth there over the past month.
The rebels are reported to have accused villagers of collaborating with the Senegalese army.
