Williams sisters march on
Serena Williams
Serena Williams: Stunning display

(5) V Williams (US) bt N Dechy (Fra) 6-0, 7-6 (7-4)

US Open champion Serena Williams has her sights set on the Wimbledon women's singles crown after another awesome display at SW19.

The eighth seed crushed Spain's Cristina Torrens-Valero in just 67 minutes to reach the last 16, where she will meet Thailand's Tamarine Tanasugarn.

"I came here to win and if I can't do that, I might as well go home and not bother playing any matches," said Williams.

"I did not come here to make up the numbers, that's for sure."

Williams has dropped just nine games in her three matches to date at the All England Club.

Ominously for her rivals, she is showing no signs of the knee injury which sidelined her for three months.

Better

She also believes she is playing better than when she won her first Grand Slam.

"I'm looking good and playing good," said Williams. "I'm doing a lot of things better than at the US Open, which I'm happy about."

"I love playing on grass and wish there were more tournaments played on the surface.

"My shots are blazing even when I don't hit them that hard and I like that."

Venus Williams
Venus Williams: Breezed through
Williams is expected to reach the semi-finals where, if the seedings hold up, she is likely to meet top seed Martina Hingis or her elder sister Venus who joined her in the fourth round of on Saturday when she beat Nathalie Dechy of France 6-0 7-6.

Venus, who only recently returned to the circuit after six months out with severe tendinitis in both wrists, stormed through the first set in 22 minutes on Centre Court.

When Dechy, who as a qualifier beat Williams in the 1997 Canadian Open, finally held serve the crowd broke into sympathetic applause and the Frenchwoman smiled an embarrassed smile.

After a late exchange of breaks the set went to a tiebreak which Williams won 7-4 to book a meeting in the last 16 with unseeded Belgian Sabine Appelmans.
