The accident happened on a minor road near Vaynor country house
Police have named a 19-year-old killed after the car he was travelling in plunged 100ft down an embankment on a country estate in Powys.

Matthew Dwyer from Knutsford in Cheshire was a passenger in the car.

The vehicle went out of control on Thursday as Mr Dwyer and two friends were leaving a barbecue party on the Vaynor Estate near Welshpool.

His injured companions are being treated at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

Mid and West Wales Fire Brigade said the accident happened on a minor road near Vaynor Park country house, at Berriew shortly after 0230 BST.

It's understood the three people in the car were leaving the estate when the accident happened.

Detectives were called in, and Dyfed-Powys Police are continuing inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death.

Mr Dwyer was released from the badly damaged car by firefighters before being carried from the ravine to a waiting ambulance.

Vaynor Park is the home of the Corbett-Winder family.

The Prince of Wales is a regular visitor to the country house and has stayed there on occasions.
